Tick Tock

Today I engaged in two main activities, sorting out clothes that my ever growing children can no longer fit and helping Little L and Little S to fill out their birthday invites.

My babies are turning 4 in a couple of weeks and I am so not ready! This year they wanted separate invites (Princesses and Spiderman) and wanted to be able to give them to people themselves. They have taken great pride in deciding on the friends to invite, making their lists and hand delivering the invites either to the person or the mail man. It has also been the first time they have insisted on not being treated as 'one'. And even though it was one of my main aims from the start to encourage their individuality, I feel a bit sad. They are just growing up so fast.

Just look at these delicious bundles I brought home! This is the only way they would sleep for months and I am pleased that they still love each other this much.

Big L on the other hand is not slowing down either. Almost through his first year at school, I cannot believe how much he has learned in a year! He is finding things that he is good at and loves, gymnastics for one, he is a real monkey! And most noticeably has been the physical changes. His feet are huge, arms and legs dangly, and his shoulders just that bit broader. Where has this year gone!?

He was my first baby love, picture perfect and the start of a great adventure.

I have a heavy heart tonight, time is moving so fast. But I am also incredibly proud. This photo represents both the hardest thing I have ever done and the very best thing I have ever done. I am just so lucky to be on this ride.

Benefits of Loving Housework

After One Week Of Housework Loving
I had carved out enough time to enjoy some guilt free activities
100% worth it

Time spent with Big L without trying to manage several tasks at the same time
Quality time for both of us

Opportunity to try Annabel Langbein's recipe for Caramelized Onions which takes 45 mins to cook
So Delicious, 45 mins well spent!
Even better when made into a Caramelized Onion and Feta Tart for lunch- yum!

Time to make my Own Pastry rather than having to use store bought..

Guilt free time in the Garden
Chilli plants and Cape Gooseberries arriving soon, hopefully!

Night away camping with the kids

Time to sit on the sunny deck enjoying knitting a cardy for MYSELF and lazily pouring over the pages of one of by Birthday Treats- Ladies a Plate... Fabulous!
While listening to sandpit conversations...

This New Years Resolution might be worth sticking to...

Tomorrow Big L starts Morning Kindy, for some reason I feel like my heart is being squeezed. Where is all the time going? It is hard to start handing him over to the world more and more, trusting others with my Precious Boy.
Oh I don't know if I am ready...

The Year of Top Sheets

I have had such a cruizy past couple of months. Don't get me wrong the kids have kept me plenty busy! But I have allowed myself time to go with the flow, to simply follow the kids interests. In a lot ways it really goes against my nature as I am a very structured person, but I can wholeheartedly say that I did not regret it for a minute! Our days mostly consisted off:

* lazily lying in bed chatting, laughing and telling stories until the kids need for breakfast became so desperate that we had to make our way down to the kitchen.
* slothing around in our pjs making plans for the day
* no matter what the plans were most days we ended up on the beach, at the pools, regularly joined by friends. The water slide also got a good workout :)
* late lunches and naps
* late dinners on the deck and an equally late bedtime.
* quality time in the garden
* Making and creating

It has been good.

But alas all such good thing must eventually come to an end....

As last year was my first year of setting realistic new years resolutions and managing to complete them (run half marathon and start vege garden) I have decided to try again this year. So as the relaxed luxury lifestyle nears the end and the start of kindy fast approaches , I feel that it is time to get serious about one new years resolution in particular.

Learn to Love Housework

This is the year that I am going to start learning to do what I need to do when I need to to it. Time to start being an adult. And there sure is nothing like a birthday party to motivate me to set this resolution into action. So as we kicked off the birthday celebrations this weekend I did it with knowing that the house was clean, looked great, and washing was up to date. I had even for the first time in many MANY moons bothered to put a top sheet on our bed, because it seemed like a particularly adult sort of thing to do.

With all those boxes ticked it left me to enjoy time with Big L, my Big 4 year old, where has the time gone!? He was so sweet in his simple requests for Birthday Happiness. A flying machine, a Rocket cake, "gumballs with a piece of string that goes into your mouth like a walky talky man so that you can go under the water"/ goggles and a snorkel! I love that little boy so dearly, he is a delight and a perfect addition to our family. I so so so enjoyed celebrating him this weekend!

So here is to the Year of Top Sheets!
Loving housework and enjoying guilt free time with my kids :) I can't wait!
