My Inner Child
The kids and I have been collecting the boxes from our weekly groceries shop with the plan to create something. And last week as the rain poured creativity struck! Boxes, tape, stapler, paint, sponges, brushes and stickers, we were in for a good day! As I turned off my worries regarding kids painting inside, Master 3 embraced his desire to organise and before I knew it we were making a TRAIN! Half way through the creation he paused, took my face in his hands and said: "Mummy it is SO beautiful!" My heart warmed.
When the rain cleared in the afternoon we climbed on board for an adventure out in the garden. We zoomed from place to place until finally we rested under the tree for a tea party. Best day :)

Bloomin' Gorgeous!
Beautiful day today. Beautiful enough to call a reluctant gardener like myself out to the outdoors. And while my knitting/crochet hands blistered as I trimmed hedges and listened to the kids happily playing on the water slide, I thought about what a lucky lady I am. And luckier yet that despite blisters I managed to finish my crochet flower cushion! And it is gorgeous! This has been my biggest crochet undertaking and it has been completely addictive (must remind myself occasionally to do some child-minding). I think I need another one...
Thank you Lucy from Attic24 for the fantastic tutorial!

Perfect little shrug
Today I had to opportunity to enjoy one of my first knitting projects on my little lady. It is the prefect little shrug for the perfect little girl :) And an awesome pattern for a beginner learning to knit in the round. This was one of my first discoveries on http://www.ravelry.com (a website that has revolutionized my life!).
Here is the pattern that I used: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/confection-baby-shrug
I hope to make many more of these before my knitting career comes to an end :)

I live to create
I am lucky enough to have three beautiful children and in the process have completely lost my marbles. This has been partly due to post natal depression after the birth of my twins, but mostly due to coming to terms with and understanding what it means to be a mother and to live my life wholeheartedly for my children. I love being a stay at home mum (much more than I ever thought I would- I was skeptical at best from the outset), but I still want an identity.
In my search to collect my marbles and become my former well balanced self I have discovered an absolute love for creating. I want to make make make! I have revisited my sewing skills, as well as taught myself to knit and to crochet (cheers youtube!). And as a result I have found a way to retain a little bit of who I am, even if it is with smeared crackers on my shirt and an unidentifiable child related mess in my hair.
I live to create! Join me on my journey :)
